When your potential is multiplied by a university built for collaboration, anything can be achieved.

Macquarie University is one of the Top 10 Universities in Australia and Top 250 Universities in the World (TIME’s World University Rankings 2019). It is a self-described hub of students, lecturers and researchers who are all trying to study for and building a better future.

Macquarie is a large-sized university with a main campus located in North Ryde (a 30-minute train ride from the Sydney CBD).

As with any other large university, Macquarie University teaches across all major areas. In particular, Macquarie University is famous for Business and Management, Accounting and Finance and Media and Communication. Moreover, Macquarie University is one of the first universities in the world to offer Actuarial Studies as a major.

Meeting the needs of industry is a major focus at Macquarie. All degrees and courses have been designed to enhance students’ working skills and capabilities so that Macquarie graduates get a head-start in their careers. A number of international companies like Cochlear, Microsoft and Huawei are also located on and around the Macquarie University campus. The university even boasts its own innovation hub and startup incubator. This doesn’t mean that Macquarie University neglects research. On the other hand, they have over 30 researchers in the top 1% of respective fields at a global standard, especially in the sciences.

Macquarie not only offers a high standard and quality of education, but also gives international students other distinct advantages when studying abroad. Because it is not located in the congested CBD, the university has a large campus and a good “university feel” with 40,000 students on campus and international students from over 100 different countries. This makes it a great environment to focus on studies, and also allows Macquarie to field its own campus facilities ranging from a shopping mall, restaurants and cafes, to libraries, museums and of course, accommodation. Macquarie also has its very own train station and radio station!

Macquarie also places a large emphasis on student support, beginning with an orientation week for all students, and continuing through to a mentors and buddies programme that pairs senior students with newer students.

Macquarie also has its own on-campus hospital, security staff and careers hub

That’s you to the power of us!
